St Peter's Square Tram Stop
St Peter's Square Tram Stop is a Metrolink station in Manchester city centre. It is the busiest tram stop in Greater Manchester.
The next stop towards the south (Altrincham, Eccles, The Trafford Centre, Manchester Airport and East Didsbury) is Deansgate-Castlefield. The next stops towards the north (Bury, Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne) are Exchange Square, Market Street, and Piccadilly Gardens. The tram stop is within Zone 1 for ticketing.
History
In late 2025, a Freedom of Information Act request revealed that St Peter's Square is the busiest tram stop on the Metrolink network.[1]
For almost three weeks in 2026 (13th July until 2nd August), the tram stop was closed as part of a major £150 million upgrade to the Metrolink network.[2][3]
