Tarn Drive
Tarn Drive is a street in Redvales, Bury, with a postcode designation of BL9 9QA.
The street connects to Manchester Road (A56) at the east end, and to Whitefield Road at the west end. Coniston Drive, Windermere Drive and Lakeland Crescent also connect along Tarn Drive.
A street sign at the entrance of Tarn Drive from Manchester Road (A56) tells drivers that the street is "Unsuitable for HGVs", and traffic calming islands are used to slow down traffic at the sloped eastern side.
Death of Joe Burton
On 31st December 2025, a 24-year-old man named as Joe Burton was allegedly stabbed to death on Tarn Drive, prompting a large police presence over the following few days. A day or so after the incident, Greater Manchester Police charged a 25-year-old man with murder and possession of a bladed article.
The man was remanded in police custody while waiting to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on 2nd January 2026. A woman in their 20s was also arrested by police on suspicion of murder, but they were later released on bail pending further inquiries.
