Mancpedia
Mancpedia is the Manchester Encyclopedia, providing hyperlocal, in-depth, objective information for all manner of topics across Greater Manchester. Everything local, whether a street, notable person, corner shop, public park, bridge, or anything else, is chronicled as extensively as possible.
Since Mancpedia was launched on 1st January 2026, new content is being added over time. While we expand our coverage, here are a few reasons to use and trust the website:
- Hyperlocal: We're researching an interlinked history for everything Greater Manchester, rather than trying to be a generic or auto-scraped directory. Websites such as Wikipedia aim to provide a general knowledge of localities, but we want every Mancunian to be able to truly discover and be proud of their local heritage.
- Authoritative: All content is centrally authored and public contributions are not possible. The information is properly researched using archives and sourced materials, giving you the assurance that everything is accurate and trustworthy.
- Mancunian: We're truly proud of our heritage, and so Mancpedia is locally owned and operated. Even our web infrastructure is hosted specifically from Manchester.
