Frank Sidebottom Statue
The Frank Sidebottom Statue is a bronze statue on Stockport Road in Timperley, Trafford. It was unveiled in 2013 to honour the iconic persona of Chris Sievey, a musician and comedian from Ashton upon Mersey who died in 2010.
History
In November 2012, plans were submitted to Trafford Council for a statue to be placed in Timperley Village, to honour Chris Sievey who died in 2010 following a cancer diagnosis. The bronze cast for the statue was already being made in Czech Republic by this point in time, thanks to fundraising efforts.[1]
The statue was publicly unveiled on 20th October 2013, at specifically 11.37am, which was in reference to one of Frank Sidebottom's catchphrases.[2]
