History

In November 2012, plans were submitted to Trafford Council for a statue to be placed in Timperley Village, to honour Chris Sievey who died in 2010 following a cancer diagnosis. The bronze cast for the statue was already being made in Czech Republic by this point in time, thanks to fundraising efforts.[1]

The statue was publicly unveiled on 20th October 2013, at specifically 11.37am, which was in reference to one of Frank Sidebottom's catchphrases.[2]

In April 2026, the statue was seen wearing a yellow and red running vest with a race bib saying FRANK and the runner number 2026. This was assumedly for the 2026 Adidas Manchester Marathon, which took place on 19th April 2026.[3]
