Moor Road Tram Stop

Moor Road Tram Stop is a Metrolink station in Baguley, Manchester. It opened in 2014 as part of the Manchester Airport Line, and has two platforms.

Being part of the Manchester Airport Line, the next stop towards Manchester city centre is Wythenshawe Park, the next stop towards Manchester Airport is Baguley. The tram stop is within Zone 3 for ticketing.

It is located beside the entrance to Dixons Brooklands Academy.

Facilities

Metrolink customers can purchase tickets from the ticket machines on both platforms, or use the tap-and-go readers.

There are no toilets at Moor Road Tram Stop.

Parking

There is no dedicated parking for Moor Road Tram Stop, though there are numerous residential roads without parking restrictions across Moor Road. There is what appears to be a car park beside the tram stop, but this is for Dixons Brooklands Academy and thus parking is prohibited, and the gates are routinely locked.

Incidents

On 12th September 2023, a female Dixons Brooklands Academy student violently attacked another female student at Moor Road Tram Stop, which included kicking their face. The incident was recorded by peers and footage circulated on social media, including Snapchat. Greater Manchester Police later confirmed that a 12-year-old girl had been arrested and subsequently bailed while the investigation continued.[1]

On 27th November 2025, police were called to reports of a male wielding a knife at Moor Road Tram Stop. By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene by boarding a tram towards Manchester. A 17-year-old was later arrested at Northern Moor Tram Stop. The incident caused tram delays on the Manchester Airport line as police officers searched trams heading towards Manchester.[2]

History

Moor Road Tram Stop opened on 3rd November 2014 along with all of the other tram stops on the Manchester Airport Line, a year ahead of the original construction schedule.[3]
