Altrincham Road
Altrincham Road (A560) is an A road that runs from Brooklands Roundabout (Baguley) in the west, through to the east where it becomes Northenden Road (Gatley).
History
The road existed prior to 1839, being labelled as a "Turnpike Road".[1] This meant that it was likely maintained by a turnpike trust that operated toll gates along the route, charging road users a fee to use the well-maintained road. This signals that even in the early 1800s, it was a major thoroughfare for the local area.
Incidents
On the night of 5th September 2025, a car smashed into 685 Altrincham Road in Baguley, nearby to McDonalds Baguley. The front of the house suffered serious damage, and three people were hospitalised as a result of the incident. A 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and failing to stop.[2]
