History

Brookway Retail Park was constructed in 1999, over a period of up to 27 weeks by Bovis for Peel Holdings. It cost approximately £3 million to develop, and originally contained Brunswick Warehouse, JJB Sports, Matalan and Wickes.^[1]

In January 2026, the Neighbourhood Policing Team for Brooklands (South Manchester) identified shoplifting at Brookway Retail Park as a priority for them to address, along with aggressive beggars around the retail areas. In a bid to tackle these concerns, police asked retailers to review their security standards, and also held crime surgeries at the retail park.^[2]
